A clogged drain is one of two problems wearing the same costume. Either something is stuck in that one fixture’s line, or the main line out to the street is the real issue and the sink is just where it’s showing up.

Those are very different jobs and very different money. Telling them apart takes about a minute on site, and it’s the first thing we do, because clearing a drain that was never the problem is how people end up calling somebody else three weeks later.

We’re based right here in Spring and we’ve been doing this since 2017. Somebody’s on call 24/7 and we’ve got 320+ five-star reviews from your neighbors.

One Slow Drain, or Every Drain in the House?

What you’re seeingWhat it usually isWhat it takes
One sink or tub draining slowA local clog in that fixture’s lineSnake or auger, usually same visit
Kitchen sink specificallyGrease, and it’s built up over monthsJetting clears it properly, snaking punches a hole
Every drain slow or gurgling at onceThe main lineCamera it first
Toilet bubbles when the washer drainsThe main line, and it’s partly blockedCamera it first

If you’re on that last row, quit running water and call. Every flush and every load of laundry adds to what’s coming back up.

Why We Camera the Line Before We Quote a Drain Cleaning

For a straightforward clog in one fixture we just clear it. No camera needed, no upsell.

But when the main line is involved, or when the same drain has backed up more than once, we run a camera inspection first. That’s $275. You watch the screen with us, so when we say it’s a root ball at forty feet, you saw it.

The reason is simple. Roots and grease and a cracked pipe all feel identical from the top of the drain. Clearing a line that’s cracked buys you a few weeks. We’d rather tell you what’s actually down there than sell you the same cleaning three times.

Snake or Hydro Jet: How We Clear a Drain

Cable machine, or snaking. A steel cable with a cutting head on it, fed down the line. It’s fast, it’s cheap, and for a normal clog in a branch line it’s all you need.

Hydro jetting. High pressure water that scours the pipe wall clean instead of boring a hole through the blockage. This is the one for grease, for roots, and for a line that keeps clogging in the same spot. It costs more and it lasts far longer.

Here’s the honest difference. Snaking a greased-up kitchen line punches an opening through the grease and water flows again, and you’re thrilled, and in four months it’s closed back up. Jetting takes the grease off the wall. If your kitchen line has clogged twice, don’t pay to snake it a third time.

What we don’t do is pour chemicals down your drain. Store-bought drain cleaner is caustic, it sits against your pipe when it doesn’t clear the clog, and on older cast iron it does real damage. If you’ve already poured some in, tell us before we open anything up.

When a Drain Keeps Clogging in the Same Spot

Twice in a year is not bad luck. Something down there is catching everything that goes past it, and until that something is dealt with you’re on a subscription.

What we find, in rough order of how often: grease buildup in a kitchen line, roots through a joint in the sewer line, a belly where the pipe has sagged and holds water, and a cracked or offset section. Only the first one is really a cleaning problem. The rest are repairs wearing a clog’s clothes.

If you’d rather not find out the hard way, drain maintenance on a schedule costs a lot less than an emergency on a Saturday night.

What Puts Spring Drains Under Extra Strain

Two things specific to around here, and they explain most of our call volume.

The first is the clay. Our soil shrinks in an August drought and swells with the first real rain, and your drain lines are buried right in the middle of that, getting pushed one way and then the other year after year. Joints work loose. That’s where roots get in and that’s where bellies form.

The second is that the growing season barely stops. Roots stay hungry, and a joint that’s separated even slightly is an open invitation.

If your house went up before the mid-1970s, there’s a good chance you’re on cast iron or clay tile, and neither was built to still be working sixty years later.

Drain Cleaning Questions We Get From Spring Homeowners

How much does drain cleaning cost in Spring, TX?

A straightforward clog in one fixture is at the cheap end and we quote it before we start. Main line work runs higher, and there we camera first at $275. Nobody should be quoting you a main line blind.

Can you clear a clogged drain the same day?

Usually, yes. Most drain calls are done in one visit. If it’s a backup with sewage in the house, say that when you call, because somebody’s on call 24/7.

Is liquid drain cleaner bad for pipes?

Yes, and especially on older cast iron. It’s caustic, and when it doesn’t clear the clog it sits against the pipe wall doing damage. It also makes the job more dangerous for whoever opens the line next, so tell your plumber if you’ve used it.

Why do all my drains gurgle at the same time?

That’s the main line, not the fixtures. Air is getting pulled through water that can’t move past a partial blockage. It’s the clearest early warning you get before a backup, and it’s worth acting on.

How often should drains be cleaned?

If you’ve never had trouble, you don’t need a schedule. If you’ve had two backups, something is causing them, and cleaning every 18 to 24 months is a reasonable stopgap while you decide whether to fix the cause. Older homes and big trees near the line mean more often.

What’s the difference between snaking and hydro jetting?

Snaking bores a path through the blockage. Jetting scours the pipe wall clean with high pressure water. Snaking is cheaper and fine for a normal clog. Jetting is what you want for grease, roots, or anything that has come back.

Can I just snake it myself?

For a hair clog in a bathroom sink, sure, and we’d tell you to. For a main line, a rented machine can wrap and lodge in the pipe, which turns a service call into a dig. And it still won’t tell you why it clogged.
